singing
a resonating bridge connecting the head and heart

Singing is so much other than hitting the right notes. It is vibration, frequency, expression, and connection—acting as a resonating bridge connecting the head and the heart, helping us connect more deeply with ourselves and with others.

Many of us experienced a moment in life when we were silenced, discouraged, or made to feel that our voice wasn't welcome. Sometimes those moments create layers of inhibition that stay with us for years. Learning to sing can be a powerful act of reclamation — not just of the voice, but of self-expression, authenticity, and confidence.

My approach to vocal coaching is centred around permission. Singing isn’t about perfection — it’s about permission to be heard, to make strange sounds, to be imperfect, to explore your creativity, and to speak your truth. At this time more than ever, it is imperative for people to find their voice.

I don't teach from a place of having all the answers. I teach as a lifelong singer, student, and active participant in this journey myself. What continues to inspire me is the way singing brings people together. Long before talent shows and competitions, music was something we shared around campfires, in communities, and through rituals. It was never about being the best; it was about belonging.

I aim to create a safe, sacred space where all of you is welcome. Blending WAAPA-trained expertise with holistic vocal reclamation, if singing brings up joy, tears, frustration, laughter, or vulnerability, that's okay. The voice is deeply connected to who we are, helping you break through inhibition, heal through sound, and tap into true full-body expression.

Alongside this emotional and creative work, there are practical skills that lead to vocal freedom. I teach through what I call the Four Pillars of Voice:

  • Breath – Developing a consistent and controlled flow of air throughout your range.

  • Strength – Building healthy vocal power and projection through regular practice.

  • Precision – Improving pitch accuracy through scales, intervals, and ear training.

  • Flexibility – Expanding range and creating ease between your lowest and highest notes.

One-on-one sessions allow us to identify your unique strengths, challenges, and goals. Whether you're reconnecting with your voice, preparing for performance, or simply wanting to sing with greater confidence, I'm here to guide, encourage, and celebrate your progress every step of the way, helping you find your power and reconnect with yourself.

Because singing isn't about perfection. It's about permission.

CHOIR/WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE

Vocal Activation Workshops / The Human Instrument

PAI, FNQ, NEW ZEALAND, ITALY

July 2024 - Current

Ranging from playful to technical, voice activation workshops are an experimental space encouraging full permission to open up and make some noise! Together, we explore gentle throat-opening warm-ups, diaphragm activation, and supportive, healthy singing techniques.

Once warmed up, we address the four pillars of singing and how to curate a personal vocal practice. From there, we workshop singing in harmony with one another—adding layers of notes to expand musical expression—and finally tie up the session by diving into shared song, filling the space with our collective frequency.

Let’s dance with our voices and rediscover this age-old tool for healing, joy, and connection.

Kulki Kwaya

DAINTREE RAINFOREST

May 2025 - March 2026

Since moving to the Daintree Rainforest in May 2025, I've been holding a weekly community choir. Kulki is the Yalanji word for “cassowary” and the Indigenous name for Cape Tribulation. It reflects both the name and the spirit of the group: grounded, vibrant, and connected to this beautiful rainforest. It is where a lot of spiritual songs came into my life, such as Pachamama by Beautiful Chorus and The Way Knows by Lindsay Scott. We also co-wrote a song called ‘Accept Yourself’

Casual Choir

FREMANTLE, WEST AUSTRALIA

August 2022 - April 2024

Back in my hometown of Fremantle, Western Australia, I ran Casual Choir and started producing my own arrangements. I would upload a video with the separate parts — low, middle, and high — and have each group learn their harmony line individually. This way, I could support each group as they worked through their part while listening to the video. It was a great way to give them autonomy, build teamwork, and allow more focused time on their own line. Then we’d bring everyone back together and workshop the piece as a full group. The trickiest part about harmonising, of course, is holding your own part while hearing everyone else singing around you! Below is an arrangement I made for one of our sessions.
